I know what it is e mail me at angelo@redroversuv.com My guess the reluctor ring on your flywheel has been damaged or the sensor is loose. If the transmission has been out or the engine removed in the past there is a great chance these teeth are bent. I have ben working on Rover since 1993 feel free to send me an e mail.

It is from the crank sensor area. Back of the engine on the drivers side next to the bell housing. Check the sensor and the flywheel reluctor ring.
