Hello...I own a 75k mile,2001 Disco II with an annoying problem. At times the engine stutters and loses power on partial open throttle acceleration(city driving), when that happens the spedo needle drops down to zero. When the problem clears, the spedo goes back to normal operation. I also own a BMW that is known to have this problem with the vehicle speed sensor. Can you please help. I love the Disco and want to hold onto it for a long while Thank you in advance.
Well on the early Disco they have this problem with the road speed transducer/sensor but not to many on the Disco II. If you have a scanner it would be good to check for trouble codes/fault codes stored in the engine and or transmission control units. These can be good clues to what is not working right. I would guess a bad sensor reading. Do you live in California?
