I have a 2000 Discovery II with 135k miles. The Service Engine Soon light came on a few weeks ago so I brought it to my mechanic to take a look. He got a code indicating a very small EVAP leak (I'm assuming P0456....Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (very small leak). He couldn't find anything after doing some sort of a pressure test so he tightened a few things and reset the light. Unfortunately, the light came back on a few days later so I brought it back in. Same code, so he tightened a few more things and tried replacing the gas cap. Once again, the light came back on. I'm at my wits end since it seems to be running fine. The only thing I've noticed is that my gas mileage has decreased somewhat. Any ideas?

You must have a leak somewhere in that system or an electrical fault. I would need to see it for myself. You might need to have it checked with someone that has a smoke machine to see the source of the leak. Good Luck

Thanks for the input, Angelo. The guy I take my Disco to seems to be ok for general maintenance but is lacking when it comes to difficult situations. This might be a stretch but do you (or anyone else) happen to know of any good Rover mechanics in the Philadelphia area? I'm in area code 18947.

I don't sorry. I would look on google for a land rover specialist. Maybe you will find someone that way. my e mail is angelo@redroversuv.com if you want to send me an e mail direct. Anyone with a smoke machine should be able to find a leak with ease. Sometimes to problem isn't a cheap or easy repair but with a smoker you should be able to see the source of the leak. Good luck.
