My 99 Range Rover is having problems with the steering. It pulls to the right a bit, and you have to over-compensate the wheel to keep it straight.I had LR dealer "look" at it and when tech evasively gave up info, he said it looks like I "may" need a "track rod assembly" and "drag link". Per my research, it looks like the "drag link" is already a part of the "assembly"?
A steering damper(?) is ringing a bell to me too.Is that a part of the assembly as well, or am I way off?
I have been diving it like that over a yr now.
Any info can help.
Thanks for the time-
Nicole

It wouldn't be the steering damper. It sounds like something is bent or just out of alignment. Have they at least rotated tires from side to side to see if pull follows a tire? Was the vehicle in an accident or hard 4X4 driving? If you need to you can e mail me direct at angelo@redroversuv.com Good luck and stay in touch with what is going on and I will try to help how ever I can.

Hi, I have a simliar problem with my RR 98 HSE. When driving on an uneven road the car will pull to either side causing me to correct, can be a bit unnerving. I have replaced the pitman arm and the steering arm and the steering dampner. The steering dampner solved the harmonic type steering shudder - the steering wheel would shake so bad I would have to stop. I was wondering if pulling problem might be due to play in the steering box?

sounds like an alignment issue. I would take it to an alignment shop and have them check it. Unless the track rod has bad tie rods or is bent it shouldn't need to be replaced and a steering damper shouldn't cause a pull.

If you have the vehicle going straight, let go of the wheel if the steering wheel turns with the pull you most likely have a tire pull. If you get the vehicle going straight and let go of the wheel and the steering wheel doesn't turn with the pull it is most likely an alignment issue. 925 957 1598 if you need more help
